What is K1 Kickboxing?

K1 Kickboxing is a modern, high-impact striking system that combines elements of Muay Thai, boxing, and traditional karate into one dynamic style. It’s fast, technical, and one of the most effective ways to build total-body fitness while learning real fighting skills.

Unlike cardio kickboxing or bag-only workouts, K1 teaches actual technique — how to strike with power, move with intent, and defend yourself with confidence. You’ll learn to throw punches, kicks, knees, and combinations, all while improving your footwork, timing, and agility.

At Stronghold Academy, our K1 Kickboxing classes are structured to challenge you physically and mentally, whether you're a total beginner or already have some experience.

What Should I Bring to My First Class?

Your first K1 class is designed to be accessible. We’ll teach you the basics and help you settle in at your own pace.

Here’s what to bring:

●     Comfortable activewear (shorts or leggings and a t-shirt)

●     Water bottle

●     Towel (optional, but expect to sweat)

●     Gloves (if you have them — if not, we’ll lend you a set)

We train either barefoot. No need for expensive gear until you know this is for you.

What to Expect in Class

Every session is around 60 minutes and includes:

  1. Warm-Up & Drills
    Dynamic movement, mobility, footwork, and shadowboxing to prep your body and nervous system.
  2. Technique Work
    Learn how to throw and defend punches, kicks, knees, and combinations. We break things down clearly and coach you on how to move efficiently and with power.
  3. Pad Work & Partner Drills
    You’ll work with a partner or coach using focus pads, Thai pads, or body shields. This is where the power and timing really start to come together.
  4. Conditioning Finisher
    Short, high-intensity circuits to build the endurance and mental grit that K1 demands.
  5. Cool Down
    Stretching and mobility to help you recover and stay injury-free.

There’s no sparring in your first class — and when we do introduce sparring (for those who want it), it’s done safely and with consent.

Common Questions

Is this suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. Most of our members started with zero experience. We scale everything to your level and coach you the whole way.

Do I need to be fit?
Nope. You’ll build fitness through the classes themselves. Come as you are, and you’ll get stronger every time.

Is it like cardio kickboxing?
Not really. This is real striking — you’ll learn technique, not just follow along. But it is a serious cardio workout, so you get the best of both worlds.
